Sami Ben Gharbia The website of Fah Diew Kan (Same Sky), a quarterly social and political magazine, has been shut down by its host Net Service Ltd for Lèse majesté violations. The move came after pressure from Thailand’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).The editor of Same Sky told the daily web newspaper Prachatai that “the ICT forced the host server to stop hosting his website, otherwise the company would not be able to access its servers to continue providing a service to other websites.According to Freedom Against Censorship Thailand (FACT) the closure of Fah Diew Kan is illegal under Thailand’s new Computer-Related Crimes Act. “All such censorship must occur solely by court order and no application was made for one. Court application must be preceded by a letter of inquiry, not immediate closure. http://advocacy.globalvoicesonline.org/
